Water Heater Preventive Maintenance in Canada

Completing routine preventive maintenance on a hot water heater at least once a year helps keep it performing at its best. We offer maintenance membership plans to help homeowners save on service, backing it with an industry-leading 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.*

A hot water heater should be inspected 1-2 times each year. Here’s what that includes:

  • TPR Valve Inspection

Our technicians will inspect the temperature release valve to ensure it isn’t blocked or damaged. This valve allows water to drain if the pressure inside the tank gets too high.

  • Damage and Corrosion Inspection

The anode rod is designed to intentionally attract debris, corroding itself instead of the water heater. We’ll check to see if this should be replaced.

  • Flushing & Cleaning

Tank water heaters should be flushed a couple times a year to prevent the buildup of rust, corrosion, or sediment. Tankless water heaters should also be cleaned out periodically to ensure continued efficiency.

  • Clean Filters

Tankless water heaters have filters that should be cleaned on a regular basis. These filters prevent sediment and excess buildup from getting into your piping systems.
